Your journeys matter. Long motorway trips, short town journeys, speed, acceleration, heating and cold weather change the petrol/electric split and your range. Enter your actual MPG and electric range where you can; this is an estimate, not a trip-by-trip forecast.

How we calculate thisAssumptions, workings & vehicle sources

What this estimate assumes

Weekly charging estimates potential electric mileage; journey timing and engine use are not modelled. Electric miles are capped at your total mileage and charging energy is counted only for those miles. This can overestimate electric-only use when charges and trips do not line up.

The comparison uses the same mileage and petrol MPG with no plug-in charging. If electricity is dearer, it shows an additional cost. It excludes ownership costs such as servicing and insurance.

The initial 40 petrol MPG, 40 electric miles for J7 and 60 for J8 are editable examples, not manufacturer real-world or battery-depleted claims. Battery capacity is published capacity used as an estimate; usable capacity may be lower.

Your calculation

  1. — full-equivalent charges × 52 weeks × — miles = up to — electric miles.
  2. Capped at your total driving: — electric and — petrol miles.
  3. Electric miles ÷ electric range × battery capacity ÷ efficiency gives — kWh, costing — a year.
  4. Petrol miles ÷ UK MPG × 4.54609 × the petrol price gives — a year.
  5. Add both bills and divide by 12 for the monthly estimate.
