Buying and selling safety guide

Take your time. Do your checks.

Buy and sell with your eyes open.

A listing on MyJaecoo is not a recommendation, inspection or guarantee. Review for publication does not verify the seller, ownership, history, finance, roadworthiness or condition of a vehicle.

See the car and check the story

View the vehicle before paying. Check the seller’s identity and authority to sell, compare its VIN with the V5C and check DVLA details, MOT history where applicable, and recalls. A V5C names the keeper; it is not proof of ownership.

Check finance, history and condition

Arrange your own vehicle history and outstanding finance checks, and consider an independent inspection. If finance remains, confirm any settlement arrangement directly with the lender using independently obtained contact details.

Keep control of the money

Do not pay an unseen seller or follow unexpected payment, escrow or courier links. MyJaecoo never requests a deposit, reservation fee or car-sale payment. Sellers: check cleared funds in your own account, rather than a payment screenshot.

Be careful with viewings and paperwork

Check driving licence and suitable insurance before a test drive. Keep documents and keys secure, record the sale in writing and follow DVLA’s change-of-keeper process. If something feels wrong, pause the deal and report the advert.

Listing terms and privacy

Clear from the start

Free listings. Clear responsibilities.

1. What MyJaecoo does and what the free listing covers

This free community advertising service is provided by My Jaecoo Ltd, trading as MyJaecoo, for UK private sellers and dealers/businesses advertising Jaecoo vehicles, with submissions made by people aged 18 or over. MyJaecoo charges no listing fee and no sales commission for these adverts. We do not guarantee enquiries, a buyer, a sale price or a sale.

We publish adverts and review submissions for publication. We are not the seller, buyer, vehicle dealer, agent for either party, payment provider, escrow service or party to any vehicle sale contract. Buying or selling a car here is separate from buying accessories from the MyJaecoo shop. Separate partner services may have their own terms and charges.

2. Checks, payments, scams and responsibility

Vehicle descriptions, prices and other information are supplied by sellers. We do not inspect vehicles or verify a person’s identity, ownership or authority, mileage, condition, roadworthiness, finance status or history. Publication and review for publication are not endorsements or verification.

Buyers and sellers must carry out their own checks and agree viewings, test drives, payments, handover and any finance settlement directly. We do not collect deposits or payments for vehicles, provide buyer protection, guarantee a transaction or compensate for another person’s fraud simply because an advert appeared here.

MyJaecoo is not responsible for another user’s fraud, misrepresentation, failure to pay or other conduct where the loss is not caused by our own breach of a legal duty. We remain responsible for our own service as required by law. Nothing in these terms excludes or restricts liability for our fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or any other liability or consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded or restricted. This wording does not excuse our own breach of duty or make an otherwise unfair exclusion enforceable.

3. Seller requirements and publication

Only advertise if you have authority to do so and can lawfully complete a sale. Declare your seller status accurately: private seller or dealer/business. Dealer/business submissions are accepted only when enabled. Anyone acting in the course of a business must select dealer/business; traders must not present themselves as private sellers. Dealer/business adverts must include the business’s legal and trading name, geographical business address, business phone number and email address, and company number where applicable. Impersonation, false or misleading descriptions, unlawful sales, spam, offensive material and unrelated advertising links are not allowed. Disclose known faults, relevant damage, recorded write-off history and outstanding finance honestly. A vehicle subject to finance may require lender settlement or consent before ownership can transfer.

You must have permission to use all photos and content you supply. You give us a non-exclusive permission to display that content for this listing service while your advert is live and to make proportionate formatting edits. We will agree material changes to the vehicle description with you. Keep details current. Use My adverts > Mark as sold when it sells, or Delete advert to withdraw it. Contact us to request a correction.

You must sign in to a MyJaecoo customer account to submit an advert. The request is linked to that account for review and management. Sign-in confirms access to the account; it does not verify identity, vehicle ownership or seller status. Submitting a request does not publish an advert. We may request information or corrections, decline an incomplete or unsuitable advert, or temporarily hide an advert while a credible safety or accuracy concern is investigated. We may remove adverts that breach these rules, are unlawful, have sold or have expired. Where practicable we will explain the reason using the contact details supplied. You can ask us to reconsider a decision through the contact page.

Adverts run for 90 days from approval/publication, subject to these terms. While signed in, use My adverts to confirm the vehicle remains available and renew for another 90 days, free. You can repeat free renewals without an overall lifetime limit; your advert keeps its reference and link. Expiry is not a sale. Renewal cannot restore a seller-deleted, rejected or safety-blocked advert, and material changes need review. Renewals are not automatic.

4. Reporting concerns, complaints and removal

Use “Report this advert” on the vehicle details or contact MyJaecoo. Include the advert reference and explain the concern. You can report suspected scams, misleading adverts, unlawful content, misuse of personal data, or complain about a listing or moderation decision. Do not include bank details or identity documents.

We review reports and may hide or remove an advert while investigating. Reporting an advert is not a payment-recovery service. If you have sent money and suspect fraud, contact your bank immediately and report it through the appropriate police or fraud-reporting service. Keep copies of the advert and your communications.

5. Your information and public contact details

The MyJaecoo operator identified in our privacy policy handles the information supplied for this listing service. We use your signed-in account identifier and email, submission and contact details to review the request, communicate with you, publish and manage an accepted advert, and handle reports and complaints. The account identifier and review email are not published. Dealer/business identity and business contact disclosures are handled separately.

An accepted private advert displays seller type, town/county, vehicle details, approved photos and the agreed phone number. Private sellers’ names and account emails are not published. Dealer/business adverts also show the agreed business identity, geographical business address, business phone number and email address, and company number where applicable. Public contact details can be copied by other users or automated collectors, even when shown behind a contact button. Private sellers should not provide a full home address for publication. Do not provide identity documents, V5C document references or bank details for publication.

While signed in, use My adverts > Delete advert to withdraw your own advert, or contact us for help or corrections. Deleting an advert withdraws it from the public listings and vehicle page. We cannot retrieve copies held by others. It does not erase private review, consent or correspondence records handled under the privacy policy. Private listing requests, uploaded photos, related emails and records are handled under the privacy policy; removing an advert does not automatically delete all correspondence or records needed to handle complaints or legal obligations. Unrelated marketing requires separate permission.

6. Your rights and these terms

These terms apply to the free listing service and do not replace the terms of a vehicle sale between buyer and seller. Your statutory rights, including any mandatory rights applying where you live, remain unaffected. The seller type is shown on each advert. A private sale does not generally provide the same protections as buying from a motor trader; a private seller must still have the right to sell and must not misdescribe the vehicle. A dealer/business remains responsible for its obligations to buyers, including applicable consumer rights; using MyJaecoo does not remove those obligations.

These terms are dated 3 November 2026 (v6). Changes apply to new submissions or renewals after the revised terms are published; they do not retrospectively remove rights you already have. If one provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue so far as they can fairly operate.
